Interplay is a challenging business simulation that helps professionals understand and manage the interplay of forces that drive their organization's success. Interplay develops the C-level capabilities embodied by highly effective managers. These managers understand the organizational, market, and financial implications of their decisions. They plan, organize, and manage tangible and intangible resources in ways that maximize the value of their group to the organization. They also instigate cross-organizational synergies and lead initiatives that challenge silo-based thinking.

Interplay develops these insights and skills by immersing participants in an intense practice field that reflects the real challenges of managing knowledge and resource capital. In this fast-paced simulation, participants compete to develop critical perspectives and capabilities in the areas most crucial to business success: decision- making, value creation, resource negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and business and financial acumen.

During this one-day simulation, teams of four to five participants create and manage a simulated company over five financial periods. To compete effectively, the teams must skillfully manage the tangible (financial), customer and external (sales and marketing), people (human resource), and organizational (internal process) assets of their company. Specifically, they must plan and allocate time and resources, satisfy demanding customers and employees, make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, manage through critical market events, and prepare and report financial statements.
